I am looking forward to running my first marathon. I live in Melrose, MA with my husband and 3 children, who are 3, 6, and 8 years old. I work as an obstetrician at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. I am committed to women's health care and value the work Art Because does to address environmental causes for breast cancer.

In his 39 years, Dan Frankel has been an avid road cyclist, a mountain biker, and a triathlete. He has run a 5k dressed as Santa, pushing both his children dressed as reindeer. This New Year’s Eve, he promised himself he’d run the Boston Marathon before he turned 40.

Having raised over $30,000 for charities focused on cancer research and prevention, Dan was immediately impressed by Art BeCAUSE’s unique mission to find the relationship between the environment and breast cancer. This is a special fundraising opportunity for Dan and everyone supporting him, given Art BeCAUSE’s commitment to donate 100% of the funds he raises to its “Seed the Scientist” program. This program funds research dedicated to finding and eradicating the environmental causes of breast cancer.

Dan is a principal at Ellis Insurance , a personal and commercial insurance agency located in Natick, MA. When Dan isn’t training for the Marathon, he can be found enjoying family adventures with his two young kids and wife, Molly.

I am a husband, father of two daughters, and a scientist who has worked in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry for the past 20 years. While there has been significant progress made in Breast Cancer research, there is still much to be learned about the environmental causes of cancer. Running on behalf of the Art beCAUSE Foundation allows me to combine three of my passions - Art, Science, and Running - to help raise funds that will enable academic scientists to continue their critical work in the fight against Breast Cancer. I did run the Boston Marathon once, but that was over 30 years ago! Knowing that I have your support will undoubtedly help me to make it to the finish line on April 19.
