November 2008 Art beCAUSE E-Newsletter
***Happy Thanksgiving!***
Note from Ellie
As I write this note to you, it is November 18th and The Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation has had a most wonderful and exhilarating fall season.
In this update you will find news about our newest "Seed the Scientist" grant recipient. Thanks to your support we were able to grant $15,000 for research dedicated to eradicating the environmental causes of breast cancer!
You'll also find links to many great pictures from our 2008 events. Browse the galleries and find your picture. Both of these events helped to raise money for "Seed the Scientist." And both were outstanding successes.
Finally, we suggest some simple ways that you can continue supporting Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation as the holidays approach. Thanks again for all of your support this year.
With best wishes,
Ellie

Both of these events helped to raise money for "Seed the Scientist", our program which funds research looking at the environmental causes of breast cancer. This innovative program helps to fund young scientists who begin their professional dream of eradicating breast cancer.
Updates
New "Seed The Scientist" Grant!
This year a $15,000 grant was awarded to Dr. Betina Lew of the University of Rochester, who is looking at the "In utero" exposure to TCDD and the development of breast cancer. TCDD activates the AhR receptor which can lead to later life breast cancer. So if the AhR receptor can be deregulated, perhaps cancer formation in later life can be prevented. The Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation is the first "seed" on this research.
New and Easy Ways to Help The Art Because Foundation
Please check out the web site www.armyofwomen.org and sign up to be part of their database. This is another way we can help with research, and you do not have to be a breast cancer survivor to participate. Also, please check the Heinz Family Foundation and see an overview of the conference held on October 31st in Boston. Their foundation’s goal is prevention of cancer, which is exactly what Art beCAUSE stands for.
And finally, it’s approaching the end of the year ….. a wonderful time to help in the eradication of breast cancer. Art beCAUSE would be honored if you would designate us as your charity of choice and send us an end of the year contribution. That would enable us to continue our work of funding young scientists. Our money goes directly to the scientists and we are very excited with the progress that is being made. Click here to make your donation online today.
