Board of Directors
Eleanor Anbinder
Eleanor F. Anbinder has been active in the breast cancer movement for the
last ten years. She became involved just after her diagnosis of breast
cancer and her committement has been steadfast ever since. Ms. Anbinder was
among the first active members of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts
Breast Cancer Coalition and she has served in several board positions
including Public Relations, Rally Chairperson, Fundraising and Statewide
Group Developement. In 1999, Ms. Anbinder and several friends formed
ArtbeCAUSE, a non-profit foundation dedicated to funding research linking
breast cancer and the environment. Ms. Anbinder has been in sales and
marketing professionally for twenty years and is an expert on networking,
customer relationship buildling, and referral sales.
Deborah J. Carducci, President of Carducci Design Group, Inc.
Deborah began her interior design business in 1994 concentrating on residential interior design. Over the past 14 years the business has grown and expanded to include kitchen and bath design as well as commercial and restaurant design.
In the spring of 2007 the business was incorporated to begin product development for an exclusive line of luxury home wares. She has been published in Boston
Magazine, the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald and Accent Home and Garden Magazine. She has also participated in
segments for Chronicle Magazine and New England Cable News - Dream House Show. Deborah is an Allied
Member, A.S.I.D. and a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners/Boston Chapter. In 2008, she
became a board member of NAWBO/Boston in order to create new programs for the chapter. After losing many friends
and relatives to cancer, and having a very dear friend diagnosed with breast cancer, Deborah feels compelled
to the cause of eradicating breast cancer through research.
Joyce Creiger, Founder Emeritus
Joyce Crieger has been involved in the arts for over thirty years. She
graduated from Boston University with a degree in Art History . She was
involved in the formation of the Danforth Museum in Framingham and has her
own art consulting firm specializing in corporate art sales. Formerly the
owner of Creiger Dane Gallery on Newbury Street, Ms. Creiger was involved in
the formation of Art beCAUSE in 1999.
David L. Grebber
David L. Grebber has served as legal counsel
for several Boston-area insurance and financial services companies over the last 19 years. He received his J.D degree
from Western New England College School of Law and his L.L.M. in tax from Boston University School of Law. He is a
member of the Massachusetts Bar. He concentrates his practice to tax, retirement, and estate planning.
Actively involved in several national and local charitable organizations, he is an Associate Member of the Hadassah
Medical Organization as well as a member of the Lawyers Committee for Combined Jewish Philanthropies. He and his wife,
Elissa, have three children and live in the Greater Boston area.
Dr. TJ Hagan
T.J. Hagan is a chiropractic physician practicing in Cambridge, MA. His specialty is the treatment of sports related injuries and he enjoys finding the athlete in each and every one of his patients. In his practice, he serves as chiropractic physician and a health and wellness coach as he helps patients recover from injuries and return to a healthy and active lifestyle.
Like most of us, he has witnessed people he cares about battle breast cancer and he recognizes the importance of research for the prevention and eradication of the disease. As an avid recreational runner, T.J. ran the Chicago Marathon to raise money for Art beCause.
Lyn Kaplan
Lyn has over 27 years of experience in consulting and selling products and services that help businesses
increase productivity and efficiencies while containing costs. She has helped industry leaders sell and
service clients such as Verizon and AT&T. Now, with Administaff, (one of Fortune Magazine's "Most Admired
Companies" for four consecutive years) Lyn shares the Company's dedication to helping businesses minimize
their liability, leverage their human resources and offer their employees a quality benefits package.
Having watched too many relatives, friends and colleagues struggle with breast cancer, Lyn wants to contribute
to the efforts of eradicating breast cancer and finding the correlation between environmental causes of this
devastating disease.
Barbara LaRue
Barbara LaRue is a business management consultant, formerly with Arthur D. Little, Inc. She now heads her own company, Boston Business Brokers & Consultants, where she helps small to medium size business owners to sell their companies.
As a recent breast cancer survivor, Barbara is deeply committed to funding research on environmental causes of breast cancer. She is the auction chairperson the Art beCause 2005 Wine Pairing Dinner.
David Shapiro
David K. Shapiro is a principal and founder of Bay State Strategies Group, a state and local government affairs
consulting practice based in Boston with concentration in state legislative affairs, state agency procurement and
contracting, real estate development and local government relations. Prior to starting Bay State Strategies, Mr.
Shapiro was a Senior Policy Advisor at the law firm of Holland & Knight and prior to that he was Vice President of
ML Strategies. Before joining the private sector he served as Deputy Director of Administration and Finance for the
Massachusetts Port Authority and as Budget Director of the Massachusetts House Ways and Means Committee. As Budget
Director, Mr. Shapiro was the principal non-elected budget writer and policy advisor for the House of Representatives.
Steve Snyder
Steve has more than 20 years of
experience leading high-growth companies and has significant financing, acquisition and public company
experience. He is presently a Vice President at AmeriVault Corp., a leader in online data backup, off-site
storage and disaster recovery services. Steve has served as COO of a large regional health care services
company, President of a facility management software company and COO of a storage management software
company. He began his career as a practicing corporate and securities attorney.
Steve's goal is to help Art beCAUSE succeed in funding research to eradicate the environmental causes of
breast cancer in order to make a real difference in the lives of future generations.
Eileen M. Turcotte, President and Co-Founder, Computer Investigative Associates
Eileen co-founded Computer Investigative Associates in 2006 after more than 20 years experience in the computer
field. Eileen previously held several management and investigative positions with forensic consulting organizations.
Her wide range of forensics experience includes working with large public multi-nationals to small, privately held
companies. This allows Eileen to work with different industries in a variety of matters, including due diligence
for mergers and acquisitions, computer and network security, dealing with the investigation of financial malfeasance,
corporate policy violations, fraud, and environmental law violations.
Eileen joined Art beCAUSE as part of her on-going efforts to assist others. Working with Meals-on-Wheels, Sylvia’s
Children, and Art beCAUSE, Eileen hopes to make a real difference in the lives of those in need.
Ed Westerman
Ed Westerman is principal of Westerman Consulting, an independent firm providing logistics
and business operations services. He has more than 35 years experience in distribution,
logistics, off-shore sourcing and liaison, cost reduction, problem solving and general
management. Prior to starting his own firm, he was Vice President of Operations for 3 New
England based, national consumer products distribution companies.
Ed is a U.S. Navy veteran and holds a B.S. in Public Relations from Boston University.
In addition to his work with Art beCAUSE, he serves on other boards including the Creative
Club of Boston, the BU College of General Studies Alumni Board, and the Boston University
Alumni Council Executive Board.
He resides in Framingham with his wife Arline. They have one son, Micah, a charter school
co-founder and teacher in California. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, reading,
music, and occasionally, skiing and jogging.
Karen Whitley, Shareholder, Hanify & King
Karen is a shareholder with the Boston law firm Hanify & King, Professional Corporation, where she has
practiced for nearly 15 years. Karen represents employers in all types of employment litigation,
including discrimination and harassment claims, wage and hour disputes, and breaches of fiduciary
duty or contractual obligations. Karen counsels employers of all sizes, across a broad range of
industries, to ensure that their policies and practices comply with state and federal laws. Prior
to joining Hanify & King, Karen served as a law clerk to the Associate Justices of the Superior Court
of Massachusetts. Karen is a frequent lecturer and author on employment law topics.
Karen is a graduate of Wellesley College and Boston College Law School. She is active in the Wellesley
College Alumnae Association, as well as several professional and networking groups, including the
National Association of Women Business Owners. Karen is drawn to causes and organizations which
improve the lives and success of women, and is committed to furthering the mission of the Art beCAUSE
Breast Cancer Foundation as a critical step towards eliminating breast cancer.
Karen enjoys golfing with her husband or cheering on her three sons during their Little League games.
